What is Urban Resources Development Corporation?

Urban Resources Development Corporation (URDC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to stabilize neighborhoods in Germantown, Mt Airy, and surrounding communities through housing repair and rehabilitation. URDC focuses on fairly stable neighborhoods where an abandoned house is noticeable and of concern to the neighbors.

How is URDC's Housing Rehabiliation Program different from other housing organizations?

URDC is unique in that it is managed by faith-based communities from Germantown and Mt. Airy. It is also unique in that it is completely funded through private donations from churches, foundations, corporations, and individuals. URDC does not receive any public funds. This enables URDC to be more nimble and able to function with much less overhead.

How is URDC different from Habitat for Humanity?
URDC and Habitat work together and share similar goals. The big difference between the two organizations is that URDC employs contractors to do much of the renovation while Habitat use volunteers. URDC does use volunteers but usually on smaller interior projects.

How may houses has URDC renovated?

URDC has purchased, renovated, and sold over 30 houses in Germantown, Mt. Airy, and the surrounding communities.

Yes, there are several who send volunteer crews to do work.

Yes, URDC is always looking for other faith communities to join us either as members of the Board of Directors, referral sources for families in need of our services, or volunteer work crews.
